The pandemic has pushed many of us to the limits of coping, across all areas of life. For trust and safety professionals, personal impacts of managing the effects of the pandemic are compounded by the challenging nature of our work — including new and increasingly more complex trust and safety issues, taking this very difficult work into our homes, and losing in-person peer support.
As we come to the end of 2021, we want to take some time to pause and reflect on our own wellbeing needs and give space to normalize the effects of the pandemic on our subsequent wellbeing, as well as re-align ourselves to what really matters to us in life.

Enhancing Leadership Support in Content Moderation

Content moderators arguably do one of the most important jobs on the internet, and their work is incredibly difficult. In the past years, the need for content moderation has exponentially grown as is the increased concern about their wellness and resiliency. Managers play a significant role in supporting team wellbeing and preventing the escalation of adverse reactions to disturbing content. This session will provide managers with a greater understanding and awareness of how to lead and develop resilient content moderators, spotting concerning signs that their team members may need wellbeing support, and equipping managers with the tools to have supportive wellbeing conversations.

This prompted an avalanche of critique by privacy advocates. Join us for our next Case Study Club, where we discuss how this sort of scanning is typically performed and on the complex trade-offs between user privacy and moderating for harmful content.
