DESCRIPTION

The Alexa Trust team is looking for an entrepreneurial, analytical, and independent policy manager with excellent judgment to join our Trust and Safety team. This person will work horizontally across the Alexa org and with our product, operational, and technical teams to build, apply, and communicate internal and external guidelines. They will help to develop a coordinated approach to sensitive content across the Alexa experience, identifying gaps and proposing scalable, explainable solutions. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual contributor with experience working independently on a distributed and matrixed team, with a history of success working on high-stakes, high-impact policy development. The role requires fast-paced research and writing, with a critical analysis of the scale and scope of policy options. An ideal candidate will have worked in areas with a high degree of ambiguity and complexity, will be comfortable driving highly visible policy decisions on tight timeframes.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Develop and source safety content, customer-facing resources, and tools. · Work closely with the Alexa Sensitive Content Intelligence, Skills Policy and other Alexa teams to operationalize policy through technical tools such as machine-learning and AI systems to better detect and remove content that is outside the limits of our content policies. · Critically analyze inputs from internal stakeholders, including international and legal & PR teams, help to develop long term global and localized policy stances, standards, and strategies. · Communicate policy tenets and decisions to internal and external stakeholders. · Work with external policy makers, trade associations, key opinion leaders, and councils.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· 6+ years of demonstrated success and subject matter expertise in product, content, trust & safety, privacy, public policy, or legal with an emphasis on the technology industry. · Geopolitical knowledge in at least one global region and at least 5+ years working on content policies for that region. · Open to international travel (post-COVID) and have an appreciation and respect for the norms of cultures other than your own. · Experience working with user generated content and licensed content services and the surrounding policy environments. · Experience working with consumer technology brands that have global impact, presence, and scale. · Experience working as an individual contributor with high capabilities of managing through influence rather than direct authority. · Strong verbal and written communication skills. · Comfort with communicating with external stakeholders. · Must have a high degree of comfort with ambiguity and uncertainty. · Sound business judgment; strategic, and analytical capabilities. · Ability to project manage with emphasis on prioritization and multitasking; ability to adapt to a fast moving environment. · Excellent team player with ability to maintain strong internal and external relationships. · Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required; JD or Advanced Degree a plus. · Must be comfortable working with highly sensitive and/or disturbing content.
