Cookie Policy

Last modified: September 14, 2023

Thank you for visiting the Trust & Safety Professional Association’s (“TSPA”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) website (the “Site”). If you are located in the European Economic Area or in the United Kingdom, this cookie policy (the “Cookie Policy”) explains how we use cookies on our Site. This Cookie Policy should be read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy. If you have any questions or concerns about the Cookie Policy or its implementation, you may contact us at contact@tspa.org.

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files containing a string of alphanumeric characters that are stored and accessed on your browser or the hard drive of your device. Log files track actions that occur on the Services and collect device information. Web beacons and pixel tags are electronic files that record usage information. We and third party partners collect information using cookies, beacons, invisible tags, unique IDs and similar technologies (collectively, “cookies”).

How We Use Cookies

We use the following cookies to deliver, measure and perform the Site:

  • Strictly necessary cookies: These cookies are strictly necessary for the Site to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually only set in response to your actions which amount to a request for services, such as setting your privacy preferences, or filling in forms. They are also used to protect our Site against unauthorized access, combat fraud and other activity that violates our policies or otherwise degrades our ability to provide the Site. You can set your browser to block these cookies (see the section “Browser Settings” below), but this may impact some of the Site’s functionalities.
  • Functional cookies: These cookies enable the Site to provide enhanced functionality and personalisation. They may be set by us or by third party providers whose services we have added to our pages. If you do not allow these cookies then some or all of these services may not function properly. These cookies allow us to operate certain functions of the Site according to your preferences. For example, when you continue to use or return to the Site, we will remember your privacy settings and preferred language. Deletion of these types of cookies will result in limited functionality of the Site and a less personalized experience.
  • Analytics or Performance cookies: We also use cookies for analytics purposes to better understand how you use our Services, to measure the effectiveness of our customer communications, to diagnose and fix technology problems, and otherwise enhance our Services. We may use our own analytics cookies or third-party analytics providers to collect and process certain data analytics on our behalf. These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our Site. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors interact with the Site. We use these cookies to test different versions of our Site to learn which features or content you prefer. We also use these cookies to analyse how people access and use our Site.

The table below explains in more detail the types of cookies we use and why:

We use both persistent cookies and session cookies. Persistent cookies stay on your device for a set period of time or until you delete them, while session cookies are deleted once you close your web browser. The cookies placed through your use of our Site are either set by us (first-party cookies) or by a third party at our request (third-party cookies).

How Do I Manage My Cookie Preferences?

TSPA is committed to offering you meaningful privacy choices. You have a number of options to object, control or limit how we, our partners, and other third parties use cookies. You can block cookies through the mechanisms described below. However, note that cookies are important to many aspects of the Site. If you disable all cookies or do not consent to our use of cookies, you may not be able to enjoy all features of the Site.

Browser Settings

You can use your web browser settings to withdraw or modify your consent to our use of cookies at any time. To do this, follow the instructions provided by your browser (usually located within the “Help”, “Tools” or “Edit” settings). Most browsers allow you to choose the level of privacy settings you want and control your cookie settings so that you can:

  • View your cookies or other locally stored data and delete them on an individual basis;
  • Block first-party and/or third-party cookies or similar technology;
  • Block all cookies or similar technologies from being set; or
  • Delete all cookies or similar technologies when you close your browser.

For more information on how to manage the most popular browsers, please see below:

“Do Not Track” Signals

Your browser settings may allow you to automatically transmit a “Do Not Track” (“DNT”) signal. Because there currently is not an industry or legal standard for recognizing or honouring DNT signals, we are not configured to respond to them at this time. We await the result of work by the privacy community and industry to determine when such a response is appropriate and what form it should take.

Changes to this Cookie Policy

We will occasionally update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in our practices and services. When we post changes to this Cookie Policy, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this Cookie Policy.

If we make any material changes in the way we collect, use, or share information held in cookies, we will notify you by prominently posting notice of the changes on the Site and if required by applicable law we will request your consent for any such new uses. We recommend that you check this page from time to time to inform yourself of any changes in this Cookie Policy or any of our other policies.
